The government, in this case the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), stated that the legal umbrella for the rules for Rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS) has been mutually agreed with PT PLN (Persero).

The Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dadan Kusdiana, said that the PLTS regulations in the form of Ministerial Regulations (Permen) have now reached the finalization stage at the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).

“We agree with PLN, we have finalized the PLTS Rooftop Ministerial Regulation now in Kumham for harmonization,” explained Dadan Kusdiana at the “11 Years of Indonesia EBTKE Conex” event, at ICE BSD, Wednesday (12/7/2023).

In the future, if this regulation is implemented, the target of 3.6 Giga Watt (GW) of PLTS Rooftops can be implemented from commercialization and industry. “Indeed, there will be a few challenges, according to the vision of Rooftop PLTS for itself, so if it is produced it will be used immediately, if it is more, then sending it to PLN will just be a reward, later it will be a savings that cannot be taken back. Is it bad or good later when we determine the capacity,” said Dadan.

Previously, the Director of Various New and Renewable Energy (EBT) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Andriah Feby Misna, said that in the future people will be able to produce electricity through rooftop PLTS, but it must be consumed by themselves according to their needs.

“They can install it without any capacity restrictions, as long as nothing is exported and as long as the quota is still appropriate,” said Feby when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (1/3/2023).

Feby said that his party encouraged the public, both private and industrial, to install power plants according to their needs. Thus, the electricity produced must be consumed by yourself.

“So later we will also encourage the industry to install it according to their needs. So it won’t be exported, what they install will be for their own use,” he added.
