VKTR Supports Transjakarta and Jasa Sarana for Designing Future Urban Mobility

In the side event of the U20 (Urban 20) forum entitled “The Future of Urban Mobility”, a memorandum of understanding (MoU – Memorandum of Understanding) was signed between PT Transjakarta and PT Jasa Sarana, as well as a preliminary agreement (HoA – Head of Agreement) between PT Transjakarta and PT Jasa Sarana. PT Jasa Sarana with PT VKTR Mobility Technology. The event took place at the Fairmont Hotel Jakarta, Wednesday 31/8/2022. The agreement between the three parties was signed by the President Director of PT. Transjakarta M. Yana Aditya, President Director of PT. Jasa Sarana Indrawan Sumantri, and Chief Operating Officer of PT VKTR Mobility Technology Dino A. Ryandi.

The event was attended by DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. Both are chairman and co-chairman of the U20 session which is being held at the same place. Along with them, the Chairperson of the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, also served as President Director of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk and President Commissioner of PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas. Also seen at the event, Chief Executive Officer of BloombergNEF, Jon Moore.

The agreement was made to strengthen cooperation between DKI Jakarta and West Java regarding the plan to use electricity-based public transportation modes in the two provinces. A sustainable urban mobility system for urban areas, especially in the post-pandemic period, is one of the main priorities on the agenda of this year’s U20 session.

As is known, Jakarta launched its first electric-powered bus fleet in March, as the first step towards achieving the target of 50 percent electric bus fleet in 2025 and becoming 100 percent in 2030. Not to be missed, the province of West Java is currently preparing a master plan to use of electricity-based public transportation. If the initiative, which was started in Jakarta and West Java, can be rolled out to other provinces, then a sustainable public transportation system will be able to accelerate the achievement of the national net zero emission target which is planned to be achieved in 2060.

In her speech, Anindya Bakrie expressed her hope that VKTR will be able to be present as a reliable partner for Transjakarta and Jasa Sarana. “We have positioned this Vector (VKTR) to be able to take part in the complete transportation electrification industry from upstream to downstream; so that we believe that we can support all government programs related to the development of the industry. This means that VKTR will be able to exist as a technology provider that offers complete solutions for each of its partners, as reflected in today’s agreement with PT Transjakarta and PT Jasa Sarana.”

Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, who also acts as the Chairman of the U20 forum, once gave a statement about the importance of collaboration in responding to the challenges faced by global cities. “In the future, Jakarta and other cities need to form closer cooperation, especially in finding answers to various challenges and problems in managing urban areas,” Anies said at the time. It can be said that the collaboration between Transjakarta, Facilities Services and VKTR in terms of urban transportation system planning today is the implementation of Governor Anies’ words.

BloombergNEF, one of the organizers of today’s U20 side event, is an institution that actively raises sustainability issues and relates and collaborates with various parties in Indonesia, including the government and the business community, especially in efforts to transition to net zero 2060.

Meanwhile, PT VKTR Mobilitas Technology is a startup in the field of transportation electrification manufacturing and telematics ecosystem. The company has signed strategic partnerships with a number of parties, including the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer BYD Auto, British environmentally friendly battery manufacturer BritishVolt, Tri Sakti car body company, British heavy mobility technology company Equipmake, Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic (PENS), Universitas Eleven March (UNS) and several others. This collaboration with many parties is one of VKTR’s strategies to localize the technology of its manufacturing products, as well as aiming for the transportation electrification industry in Indonesia to be fully developed from upstream to downstream.
