BNBR or the Company through its business unit, PT Bakrie Construction (BCons), on Tuesday (9/8) officially started the physical construction of the first cut project construction of two ‘jacket legs’ wellhead platform worth US$ 107 million. The fabrication is carried out at the production unit owned by PT Bakrie Construction in the Sumuranja area, Banten. This is part of the Husky-CNOOC Madura Ltd (HCML) supporting gas drilling or exploration facility in the Madura Strait Block.

BNBR President Director Bobby Gafur Umar said that the construction of the two wellhead platform projects was carried out by a consortium of PT Bakrie Construction with PT Timas Suplindo, a building structure and steel component contracting company. “BNBR focuses on the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) work for two MDA and MBH wellhead building construction; in addition to preparing 20 gas pipelines connecting from MDA and MBH wellhead platforms within 28.1 kilometers and 14 gas pipelines which will be connected to HCML’s floating production unit (FPU). The total project value is US $ 107 million, “Bobby told reporters, after the first cutting of the steel pipe that marked the start of the project, in Sumuranja, Banten, on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, PT Timas Suplindo is tasked with carrying out the transportation and shipping work as well as the installation of the wellhead platform to the FPU Gas facility on the Madura Strait offshore platform, located 200 kilometers east of Surabaya.

The physical work of the wellhead platform to the offshore installation, according to Bobby, is targeted to be completed in early January 2018. “Today, we are doing the first cutting of the” jacket legs “of the wellhead platform,” Bobby said. The event was attended by representatives from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, representatives of SKK Migas, the Board of Directors of HCML, the Board of Directors of BNBR and the Board of Directors of PT Timas Suplindo and PT Bakrie Construction. Bobby hopes that this project can be completed in accordance with the time specified in the contract. “This is proof that, amid the sluggish oil and gas sector, BNBR manufacturing business is still moving,” continued Bobby added.

For information, Husky-CNOOC Madura Ltd (HCML), plans to build a 175 mmscfd gas processing facility (FPU) in the Madura Strait. The processing facility is located on an offshore platform about 200 kilometers east of Surabaya or 75 kilometers southeast of Madura Island. In the future, the processed gas will be sold to meet the needs of gas buyers in Java.

To support the operation of the facility, HCML requires two wellhead platforms, 20 gas pipelines connecting the MDA platform wellhead to the MBH (28.1 kilometers away), FPU facilities in the form of a tanker / vessel converter, and 14 gas pipelines connecting the FPU to the MBH located at East Java Gas Pipeline (EJGP).

PT Bakrie Construction itself is a business unit of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk which has extensive experience in fabrication and EPC projects in the oil and gas sector. Seventy percent of BCons projects come from oil and gas EPC projects, and BCons fabrication products have also been exported to a number of countries, including Sri Lanka, Singapore and Australia. Not long ago, Bcons completed a mooring tower or mooring tower project (iron-steel construction consisting of piles, jackets, topside and yokes) for the construction of EPC-3 Banyu Urip Project Mobile Cepu Ltd order.
