Indocement and Modula3D Collaborate to Construct Buildings Using 3D Construction Printing Technology

PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk. (Indocement) is collaborating with PT Modula Tiga Dimensi (Modula3D), a subsidiary of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk. (BNBR). This construction partnership will create a collaborative project called the Indocement Collaborative Hub. This collaboration combines five decades of Indocement’s excellence in cement and building materials with Modula’s breakthrough 3D construction printing (3DCP) technology.
“This collaboration is part of a milestone to mark Indocement’s 50th anniversary as we enter a new era of construction in Indonesia, namely by adopting 3D construction printing (3DCP) technology provided by our partner, Modula,” said Indocement President Director Christian Kartawijaya at the groundbreaking ceremony of the 50th Anniversary Auditorium – Indocement Collaborative Hub, at the I-SHELTER Citeureup Factory Complex, Bogor, on Tuesday (August 19, 2025).
Christian said that the Indocement Collaborative Hub, a 120 m² building with an iconic structure titled “50,” is a symbol of sustainability and a milestone in the Company’s history. This project combines function, innovation, and architectural exploration. By using 3D construction printing (3DCP) technology, he is optimistic that this exploration will produce a work that is not only aesthetic and sturdy, but also able to save construction time, labor, and efficiency in material use.
“We are optimistic that this collaboration will open a new chapter in the development of sustainable construction methods while expanding the exploration of future building forms and designs,” he said.
Adi Bagus Tirto, President Director of PT Modula Tiga Dimensi (Modula), added that this 3D printing technology can produce a simple house in six days. Building walls using this printer can also reduce the time required for conventional house wall construction by more than 70 percent.
“This 3D printing is a disruptive technology in the building construction sector. Through a large-scale printer capable of reading digital designs, various types of buildings, such as houses, commercial spaces, public facilities, and infrastructure elements, can be built more quickly, precisely, with less material, and in an environmentally friendly manner,” Adi explained.
Adi continued, Modula is a joint venture between BNBR and the leading Danish 3D construction printer manufacturer, COBOD International. The 3D construction printing machine used is the BOD3 type, a technology widely used in Europe. “In Indonesia, BNBR is a pioneer in using the most advanced technology in the 3D printing construction industry,” said Adi.
