PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk. (“Company” or “BNBR”) continues to encourage and accelerate business transformation to the green energy industry. This was done partly to support the Indonesian government’s program to reduce emissions while achieving net zero emissions by 2060 in accordance with the Paris Agreement.

This business transformation has become increasingly prominent with the agreement on plans to build a Floating Solar Power Plant (PLTS) and a Wind Power Plant (PLTB) between BNBR and Envision Energy International Ltd. (“Envision”). The signing of this memorandum of understanding (MoU) was carried out by BNBR Director Roy Hendrajanto M. Sakti and Envision Senior Vice President Hu Yingchun, in Beijing, Sunday (10/11/2024).  This signing was carried out at the Indonesia-China Business Forum 2024 in Beijing, which was held by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was also attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. H. Prabowo Subianto.

“We are proud to be able to play an important role in the transformation of the green energy industry in the country as a form of our commitment to sustainable business principles,” said Roy. “This is also an excellent opportunity to support the domestic growth program that has been encouraged by the government, where more foreign investment will come into the country, especially in the development of green energy,” added Roy.

Roy also said that the Company and Envision are exploring building a floating PLTS and PLTB, each of which has a capacity of 200 Mega Watts. The plan is that both will use hybrid power to supply clean, reliable and sustainable electricity to support the electricity network, especially in eastern Indonesia.

To ensure the reliability of electricity supply to the network, continued Roy, it will also be possible to collaborate with other Bakrie Group companies. Namely, in the form of cooperation in supplying natural gas needed for the development of gas-fired power plants (PLTG) which will also supply electricity to the network.

On the same occasion, Envision Senior Vice President Hu Yingchun said that his party was proud to be able to collaborate in developing the latest technology in the green energy industry in Indonesia. “Building green energy facilities not only makes a significant contribution to the economy, but also to building a better and more sustainable future for the next generation,” Hu said.

“This project will use Envision’s smart turbine technology to increase wind turbine efficiency and longer service life in hybrid power plants,” explained Hu.

Furthermore, Roy added, the two companies also plan to explore the potential for developing a 1,000 Ha green industrial area in Indonesia. Apart from that, the two of them will also initiate the development of a nickel processing supply chain to support the electric vehicle battery industry, both for the domestic and export markets.
