President Director of PT Transportation Jakarta (Transjakarta) Welfizon Yuza is targeting the addition of 200 Transjakarta electric buses this year.
Welfizon said that currently there are 100 Transjakarta electric buses in operation. With the addition of 200 buses, there will be a total of 300 electric buses.
“This year we are targeting to add 200, so that by the end of the year we are targeting Jakarta to have operated 300 electric buses,” said Welfizon when met at the Senayan Bank DKI bus stop, South Jakarta, Thursday (11/7/2024).
Welfizon said that in the future his party would focus on adding Transjakarta electric buses.
“In the future, our procurement will only be electric buses, in accordance with the regulations set by the DKI Provincial Government, where by 2030 the target is for all Transjakarta fleets to use electric buses,” he said.
At the same time, according to Welfizon, there are around 1.3 million people using Transjakarta (TJ) services this year.
This figure increased by around 200,000 customers compared to the previous year, namely 1.1 million customers.
“This is a good record of achievement,” said Welfizon.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) recorded that public transportation users in Jakarta in 2023 would only be around 4 million people or 18.86 percent.
The DKI Provincial Government targets that the number of public transportation users will continue to increase to reach 30 percent by 2030.
Increasing the number of public transportation users is considered important to reduce congestion which has an impact on air pollution.
The DKI Provincial Government also admitted that it would continue to strive to increase the number of public transport passengers in Jakarta, both TransJakarta, LRT, MRT and KRL. “This is a fact that we currently see in everyday life. Hopefully the DKI Provincial Government will continue to make efforts to improve it,” said Deputy Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service (Dishub) Syaripudin in a Public Discussion at the Institute for Transportation Studies (Instran) which was participated in by Kompas.com via Zoom, Thursday (4/7/2024).
