Transjakarta is increasingly serious about operating electric buses across all its services. In fact, this reliable public transportation platform for Jakartans recently launched 15 new electric buses.
While Transjakarta’s electric buses are typically made in China, this time the buses are locally made.
The electric buses are assembled in collaboration between Karoseri Laksana and VKTR. DAMRI is the operator of the electric buses.
Specifically, the buses use E-Cityline 3 bodies manufactured by Karoseri Laksana in Ungaran, Central Java.
“The chassis is made by BYD, which assembles VKTR,” said Kusririn, R&D Manager of Karoseri Laksana, when contacted by Kompas.com on Friday (October 24, 2025).
In terms of appearance, the e-Cityline 3 resembles the Cityline 3 for diesel-powered buses. The difference lies in the flat grille, chrome garnish, and LED lighting. From the side, there are three entrances: a low front door, a middle door, and a high rear door for boarding and alighting at bus stops. They are also available on the right and left sides, making access easier depending on the bus stop location.
