Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is targeting a total of 10,000 electric buses for the Transjakarta fleet by 2029.
“In fact, my target is that by 2029, 10,000 buses in Jakarta will be electric,” Pramono said at Putri Duyung Ancol, North Jakarta, Thursday (May 5).
Pramono said this significant fleet expansion is part of the energy transition plan for public transportation.
Pramono acknowledged the rapid increase in public transportation users in Jakarta, especially after his administration made Transjakarta free for 15 groups of people.
“Firstly, it must be acknowledged that the rainy season often requires long waits. Secondly, the number of people using public transportation in Jakarta is now increasing rapidly. Why? We made it free for 15 groups. That’s what has led to people now using public transportation as a new habit,” he said.
Furthermore, Pramono stated that his company will launch a Transjabodetabek service from Blok M to Soekarno-Hatta Airport next week.
Pramono confirmed that the fare for this route will remain unchanged, remaining at Rp2,000 before 6:00 a.m. and Rp3,500 thereafter. Twenty buses will be available to serve passengers every 5 to 10 minutes. “Regarding the planned fare, there are no changes; it remains Rp2,000 before 6:00 a.m. and Rp3,500 after 6:00 a.m.,” Pramono said.
