Automotive Components Exhibition, Indonesia Has the Potential to Become a Big Player

The National Modifier & Aftermarket Association held the Indonesia Modification & Lifestyle Expo (IMX) 2024 exhibition, at ICE BSD, Tangerang on Friday (4/10/2024). The exhibition, which is entering its seventh year, carries the theme “Road to the World” to continue to showcase significant developments in the automotive and aftermarket components industry from around the world.
The IMX 2024 exhibition is very enthusiastic in preparing many local products to rise to a higher level, including to the international level. Even in a number of exhibition booths, there are local modifiers who are at a global level. Meanwhile there were 30 brands as members of the Nippon Auto Parts Aftermarket Committee (NAPAC) from Japan as well as visitors from Dubai, Qatar and Australia.
The Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, revealed that the automotive industry in Indonesia recorded positive growth of 2.5% for the January-August 2024 period. With details, domestic sales of four-wheeled vehicles amounted to 560 thousand units, with exports amounting to 296 thousand units in the form of Completely Built Up (CBU) and 30 thousand units in Completely Knocked Down (CKD) form.
“This means that the Indonesian transportation equipment industry continues to show stable performance and makes an important contribution to the domestic and international markets,” he said in a press release, quoted Monday (7/10/2024).
Agus also sees a big golden opportunity for Indonesia in the automotive components and aftermarket industry, even though it is not yet a big player in the Global Automotive Aftermarket Industry. “The potential for growth, the room to grow is very wide open, so to be able to spur the industry to become more competitive and able to take advantage of existing opportunities, the industry needs to understand the latest trends and market dynamics,” he said.
