Menurut Gilarsi, bus BYD tipe C6 ini sesuai dengan kondisi jalan di sebagian besar wilayah Bandung Raya karena memiliki dimensi berukuran panjang 7,403 mm, lebar 2,100 mm, dan tinggi 2,926 mm. Dengan dimensi tersebut, bus ini memiliki konfigurasi 26 fixed seat terdiri dari 25 kursi penumpang dan 1 kursi sopir.

In terms of performance, this medium electric bus is equipped with an AC Synchronous type electric motor that is capable of producing 180 kW of power and a maximum torque of 1,500 Nm. This machine is powered by an iron-phosphate type battery with a capacity of 135 kWh. "To fully charge the battery, it takes approximately 4 hours, provided the battery is filled with charging power which has an output of 40 kW," said Gilarsi.

Lebih lanjut, Gilarsi mengatakan bahwa bus berbobot kurang lebih 9,5 ton ini mampu mengangkut beban sebesar 6,8 ton. Dengan kecepatan maksimum 100 km/jam, bus ini sesuai dengan medan jalan di Bandung Raya yang penuh kelok dan berbukit.

Penguatan Kerja Sama

Gilarsi menambahkan, acara kick-off di Bandung ini merupakan tindak lanjut dari penandatanganan kerja sama antara VKTR dan PT Jasa Sarana dalam melaksanakan program elektrifikasi bus dan kendaraan lainnya sebagai sarana transportasi publik. Bus listrik ini rencananya akan beroperasi di wilayah Bandung Raya, yang mencakup Kota Bandung, Kabupaten Bandung, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Kota Cimahi, dan sebagian Kabupaten Sumedang.

"This collaboration will include conducting a feasibility study, data collection, procurement of electric bus facilities, and electrical infrastructure related to bus electrification, and other potentials that can be synergized and collaborated," said Gilarsi.

Menurut Gilarsi, populasi lalu lintas di Bandung Raya telah mengalami peningkatan yang cukup signifikan sehingga mengakibatkan masalah, antara lain kemacetan dan emisi karbon yang tinggi. Untuk itu, Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Barat melalui PT Jasa Sarana, berinisiatif untuk mengembangkan BRT di Bandung Raya. Rencananya, menurut Gilarsi, BRT ini akan dioperasikan melalui 12 rute dengan jumlah armada bus sebanyak lebih dari 260 unit. Sebagaian besar di antaranya adalah bus listrik ukuran sedang (medium).

Gilarsi also mentioned about the potential for electrification of transportation that can be worked on in Greater Bandung. Based on data, currently the most common mode of transportation in Greater Bandung is angkot (city transportation), which accounts for 95 percent of all public transportation modes. "This is a great opportunity for both parties to work together to 'repower' or convert these petrol-engined angkots into electric angkots. That way, the old fleet is not wasted and the goal of reducing carbon emissions is also achieved," he explained.

President Director of PT Jasa Sarana, Indrawan Sumantri, said last year since being appointed by the Governor of West Java to carry out this BRT project, his party has continuously conducted studies and opportunities for collaboration with many parties. Comparative studies and exploration of cooperation have been carried out, both domestically and abroad, to realize this Greater Bandung BRT. “Electrification of BRT transportation in the Greater Bandung area is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions, and create a special attraction for the community, to then switch from private vehicle transportation to public transportation modes. And of course, this collaboration is a collaboration opportunity full of positive potential, in order to support the achievement of the goals of the Central Government, Regional Government and Regency/City, so that the ideals of environmental conservation can be optimally maintained," said Indrawan.
