Transjakarta Electric Bus Successfully Reduces Emissions by 5.5 Million Kg of CO2
The electric buses run by PT Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta) through the operator PT Mayasari Bakti with a total of 30 units have successfully covered a distance of 2 million kilometers since they officially first operated on March 8 2022. This achievement of 2 million kilometers is equivalent to a reduction in emissions of 5,000. 5 million kg of CO2 or the equivalent of 250 thousand trees must be planted to absorb that amount of CO2.
“We have been operating electric buses for 14 months and have carried approximately 10 million passengers. “All of this cannot be separated from the role of various parties, as part of what we can do to achieve net zero emissions by 2060 based on the global initiative following the signing of the Paris Agreement,” said Main Director of PT Transportation Jakarta (TransJakarta) Welfizon Yuza, in his speech at the “Achievement Day” event. PT Maya Saribakti Utama Holding Director Andi Oetario said that his party worked hard while operating the 30 electric buses. The current achievement of 2 million kilometers is the result of good cooperation between the Department of Transportation, TransJakarta, PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas (VKTR) and PT Mayasari Bakti, as well as TransJakarta bus users.
“We have been working hard from the start, from the start we have been in a situation, namely, if we have entered the electric bus, don’t hesitate, don’t go back and forth. Thank God, even though the investment is not cheap, both the electric bus units and the charging stations, we can get here, reaching 2 million km. “Once again, congratulations on this achievement,” said Andi Oetario.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service, Syafrin Liputo, in his speech said that the achievement of 2 million kilometers of TransJakarta electric buses was the first step to achieving a bigger target. Syafrin said, in terms of achieving net zero emissions by 2060, DKI Jakarta has planned to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030.
“With this electric bus, we hope that people will feel safe and comfortable. “And with the achievement of 10 million passengers in 12 months, it is an illustration that electric buses have become the public’s favorite in terms of mobility,” said Syafrin.
President Commissioner of PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas (VKTR) Anindya N. Bakrie, in his speech congratulated the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, DKI Jakarta Transportation Service, PT Transportation Jakarta, and PT Mayasari Bakti for the achievements that have been achieved. According to him, the struggles of various parties since 2019, entering the pandemic period, testing electric buses, and operating them, have reaped encouraging results.
