Bakrie Develops 3D-Printing Construction Technology Industry, Targeting the Construction and Housing Market

COBOD International S/A (“COBOD”) has just signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT Modula Sustainability Indonesia (Modula), a subsidiary of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR) engaged in 3- dimensions (3-dimensional construction printing technology – or often referred to as “3DCP technology”), in Jakarta, Tuesday (1/11/2022). The signing was carried out by the CEO of Modula, Indra Ginting and Co-Founder & Head of Asia-Pacific COBOD International, Simon Klint Bergh.

Director of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR) Roy Hendrajanto M. Sakti who also attended the event said that this agreement was made to finalize cooperation between Modula and COBOD to focus on developing businesses in the construction industry with 3DCP technology in Indonesia. This collaboration will be realized in the establishment of a company called PT Modula Tiga Dimensi. “This joint venture company will carry out the role of marketing and market development in Indonesia, and all business activities related to this 3DCP technology,” said Roy.

Furthermore, Roy also explained that 3DCP technology is still relatively new in Indonesia. He hopes that Modula can become one of the pioneers of 3DCP technology in Indonesia, especially in the building and housing construction segment. “We see that the growth potential of this industry in Indonesia is enormous. This is a business opportunity that should be explored and developed. The efficiency gained from implementing 3D-printing in this industry is also very significant with the use of environmentally friendly energy,” said Roy.

Commenting on the agreement, Simon Klint Bergh said, “We are proud to be partnering with the Bakrie Group and presenting our 3DCP technology in Indonesia. We believe this will help solidify our position as one of the world’s leading providers of 3DCP technology. Together, we have a great opportunity to grow and show the Indonesian market how our technology can be applied to build faster, better, cheaper and of course environmentally friendly.”

Today, COBOD is one of the world’s leading providers of 3DCP, and has disrupted the technology of the global construction industry. The application of this technology results in a much more effective, fast, inexpensive and quality development process. The company built buildings in Europe with 3-dimensional technology for the first time in 2017. Three-story buildings in Belgium and Germany have also been built using their technology, in addition to several buildings in Dubai and on the African continent.

COBOD has an open-source strategy, partnering with industry players, academic institutions and supplier networks around the world with a number of investors and strategic partners such as GE Renewable Energy (United States), PERI (Germany), CEMEX (Mexico), Holcim (Switzerland) , Dar Al-Arkan (Saudi Arabia), L&T Construction (India), and JGC (Japan). Headquartered in Denmark, COBOD has a global presence including in North and Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.
